What to do if Microsoft 365 is down

  1. Check a second service from the same provider (e.g. another Google or Microsoft app) — one provider outage often hits several at once.
  2. Confirm your internet is up, then clear the browser cache or try an incognito window.
  3. Check the provider’s official service-status dashboard (linked below) for the affected region.
  4. Check this page — if reports are spiking here, the problem is Microsoft 365, not you, and there is nothing to fix on your end but wait.
  5. Try the service a second way (app vs website, or mobile data vs Wi-Fi). If one works and the other does not, the outage is partial.
  6. Check Microsoft 365’s own status channels (linked below) and their X/Twitter feed for an acknowledgement.

Why is my Microsoft 365 not working?
It is either a wider Microsoft 365 outage or something local to you. If the reports on this page are spiking, it is Microsoft 365 — not your device — and the fix is to wait. If they are not, work through the "What to do" steps above; most Microsoft 365 problems clear with a restart or by switching between the app and the website.
Is it just me, or is Microsoft 365 down for everyone?
Check the two signals on this page: 0 visitor reports in the last 15 minutes, and our live reachability checks. A spike in reports from across the US means it is not just you; near-zero reports usually point to a problem on your own connection or account.
How long do Microsoft 365 outages usually last?
Most Microsoft 365 disruptions are resolved within a couple of hours; larger ones can run longer. The "Recent outages" history above shows how long past Microsoft 365 outages actually lasted.
How does itsdown.ca know if Microsoft 365 is down?
Two separate signals, never mixed: reports people file here, and automated checks we run against Microsoft 365’s public endpoints every 15 minutes. A responding website does not always mean the service works, so we show both.
